    Precutting

Cutting the lead wires of components before through-hole mounting with the purpose of unifying the wire lengths. The sequence of steps is usually Precutting > Shaping > Soldering > Cutting, but cutting should be avoided in the end, if possible. Re- cutting wires after soldering may have undesirable consequences, such as (1) cracks in the solder joint; (2) exposure of the iron wire ends, which makes these prone to corrosion; (3) damage to components.
