Soldering terminology

Metal is solderable only if the solder can be spread to the base material. This property is referred to as wettability and is quantitatively correlated with the wetting angle θ (angle formed by the tangent of the solder and the base material). If θ = 0, wettability is 100%. A wetting balance method is used for the measurement of wettability.
