    Snap-off

Distance between the underside of the stencil and the surface of the PCB during printing circuit boards for surface mount ("snap" refers to snapping something on). In screen printing, this distance is often somewhere between 20 and 50 mm. If an appropriate distance is kept, PCB and stencil will touch while being pressed only in the exact moment when the squeegee moves across the stencil.
