CAF migration
In general, conductive anodic filaments are conventional circuit boards made of epoxy resin reinforced with glass fiber (glass - epoxy). As Figure 1 shows, however, adhesion problems can occur between the glass and the plastic core, allowing moisture to penetrate during cleaning. During the operation of the electronic device, a migration between anode and cathode occurs along the fibers. Migration along the inner sides of contact holes leads to the formation of peaks within the holes and may interfere with the conductive properties . Figure 2 shows the schematic representation of a damaged contact hole and a photograph thereof.
