Soldering terminology

A type of chemical bond between oppositely charged ions due to electrostatic attraction. NaCl is a common example for ionic bonding formed between the metallic element (Na), and the non-metallic element (Cl) via electron transfer where the former becomes the cation and the latter becomes the anion. This is a relatively weak type of bond.
