    Solder Recycling

You have ten seconds to name a star in the soldering industry! Cross your heart, did you think of a manufacturer's name? If so, hopefully it was Almit! :)

But if we take a moment longer, we may notice that the real "stars of soldering" are the soldering materials – or more precisely, the raw materials they are made of. The unique characteristics and interplay of the metals used are the basis of every solder joint.

We want to help ensure that the life cycle of metals remains a cycle – and not a one-way street. As you already know, you can hand in old Almit solder and expired products to us free of charge. Now we are going one step further and would like to introduce you to our new cooperation with MTM Ruhrzinn, one of the leading environmental service providers for the recycling of solder and production waste containing precious metals.

The company is breaking new ground in solder recycling, as the solder paste recycling process also shows as an example:

In the conventional recycling process that has been common on the market up to now, the solder paste is thermally treated.

In the process, the organic material, i.e. the flux and possibly also the plastic containers, are burnt. The solder powder in the solder paste is turned back into metal ingots and the metal is processed into solder powder again.

In the innovative process offered by MTM Ruhrzinn and funded by the EU, the solder powder is separated by a chemical process.

    Advantages

    No burning of organics
The solder powder is retained, no destruction of transformation that has already taken place
    CO2 reduction through energy saving

Innovative process brings new life to old solder

    Supported by the EU

With MTM Ruhrzinn's recycling offer, you can give your old solder a new life, improve your company's ecological footprint and save money. Just recycling 100 kg of used solder with the alloy SAC 305 saves more than 2000 kg of CO2, which is equivalent to the emissions of six flights from Düsseldorf to London.

MTM Ruhrzinn accompanies the entire process from waste product to recyclable material and remunerates your material at a fair price. The company is currently the only provider on the market to issue you with a certificate showing the CO2 savings you have achieved.

You can find more information at Ruhrzinn.com, where you can also find a CO2 calculator that shows you how much you can save by recycling your waste. If you are interested or have any queries, your Almit specialist advisor and the MTM Ruhrzinn team will be happy to advise you.
